Donel C. Kinnard

Upon retirement, Don continued his service as a member, and in some cases commander of numerous Veterans Service Organizations including Veteran of Foreign Wars, the Legion of Valor, Military Order of the Purple Heart, Disabled American Veterans and several more.

As chairman of the WV Veterans Council, Don was instrumental in establishing a 120 bed veterans nursing facility in Clarksburg and was serving on the WV Veterans Cemetery committee at the time of his death in 2009.  Before his passing, he asked that his final resting place be at the new State Veterans Cemetery, so it is fitting to name it in his honor.
